KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has set the date for the Chitwan-2 by-election.
The Commission has decided to hold by-elections on April 23 in the aforementioned House of Representatives constituency.
The by-election is being held after Rabi Lamichhane’s MP seat, which he won in the House of Representatives election on November 20, was revoked due to a citizenship dispute.
If the representative’s term is more than 6 months old and the position becomes vacant, there is a legal provision to elect a new representative through a by-election.
Under the by-election program, there is a program to update the voter list from Feb 13-28, register nominations of candidates on April 3, file complaints against candidates on April 4, publish the list of candidates on April 5, and publish the final list of candidates on April 6.
