KATHMANDU: Following widespread criticism from the general public and professionals, the government has decided to modify existing vehicle safety regulations for specific individuals.

The government has come under widespread criticism after the police beat up a doctor working at a trauma center during the President’s ride from Sheetal Niwas to Parliament House on Friday.

Even before that, there was criticism from the general public that they had to suffer when traffic was stopped for hours during a specific person’s ride.

Last time, after the doctor was beaten up, the doctors stopped all services except government essentials. After that, the government has agreed to amend the ‘Safety Management Procedure for Specific Persons 2077’.

By agreeing on 6 points with the Nepal Medical Association, the government has agreed to amend the procedure so as not to affect sensitive areas such as the general public, schools and the health sector.
