KATHMANDU: Kamal Bahadur Shah, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim, has taken the oath of office.

Shah took the oath of office and secrecy from the state chief Devraj Joshi at the state chief’s office.

Rajendra Singh Rawal, who took over as Chief Minister from the CPN-UML a month ago, was defeated in a vote of confidence in the State Assembly, and Shah, the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party, was appointed as Chief Minister.

On Thursday, Shah was appointed chief minister by state chief Devraj Joshi after outgoing chief minister Rawal resigned after losing a vote of confidence.

Rajendra Singh Rawal, who was elected Chief Minister on behalf of the CPN-UML under Article 168 of the Constitution, did not receive a vote of confidence from the State Assembly, and after the leader of the Congress State Parliamentary Party, Shah, submitted his claim to the position of Chief Minister under Article 168 of the Constitution, Chief Minister Joshi appointed him.

It is the first time in the government’s history that the outgoing Chief Minister Rawal has not received a vote of confidence within a month of its formation.

Seven MPs from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, which is affiliated with Resham Lal Chaudhury, did not vote for Rawal as their demands were not met.
