KATHMANDU: Kamal Bahadur Shah, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim State, will take the oath of office and secrecy today.

The program for Shah to take the oath of office and secrecy from state chief Devraj Joshi during a special ceremony to be held at the state chief’s office has been announced, according to Ram Bahadur Bisht, chief of Shah’s secretariat.

The state chief appointed Shah as chief minister on Thursday in accordance with clause (3) of Article 168 of the constitution.

Rajendra Singh Rawal, who was appointed Chief Minister with the support of the UML, Maoists, Nagarik Unmukti Party, and RPP, resigned to the state head on Jan 11 after failing to receive a vote of confidence from the State Assembly. Shah was appointed Chief Minister after submitting his resignation.

The newly appointed Chief Minister Shah has prepared to expand the small-sized cabinet today.

Chief Minister Shah stated that talks are currently underway to appoint two ministers, one from the Congress and one from the CPN (Unified Socialist). However, the question of who will be appointed as minister is still being debated.

Chief Minister Shah expressed confidence that he would get a vote of confidence from the State Assembly within a month. He said, ‘I will take a vote of confidence within a month. This party is better than that party, we will move forward together.’
