KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives Rules Drafting Committee agreed not to suspend MPs who have been remanded in custody after being charged with criminal offenses.

The committee agreed not to suspend the MPs facing criminal charges until they were found guilty by the court.

However, MPs from Congress, Maoists, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and CPN-S in the committee said that the MPs who are in custody pending criminal charges should be suspended.

Amidst their opposition, it was agreed that the MP’s service would be suspended and the position would be maintained.
