KATHMANDU: The restoration and reconstruction of the Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus building, that was damaged by the earthquake, has begun.

The students repeatedly pressed the concerned parties to rebuild the college building in the Ghantaghar area, which was damaged by the 2072 earthquake.

Following that, the government set aside a budget of 480 million and planned to build it in two models.

Janardan Sharma, the then-finance minister, announced in the fiscal year 2078/79 revised budget that arrangements would be made to rebuild Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus and Ghantaghar in their original format to reflect their historical significance.

Following that, the building construction department, in collaboration with the archeology department, created a design to renovate the Ghantaghar’s right side and rebuild the building on the left side.

The urban development and building construction department had prepared a plan with a cost estimate of 482.2 million 61 thousand on Sharawan 3 (July 19) last for the regularization and reconstruction of the college.

The rehabilitation and reconstruction work was completed in accordance with the multi-year project.

According to Koshnath Adhikari, Director of the Building Construction Department’s Central Planning Unit (Building and Housing), the entire south side of the college has been damaged and will be rebuilt from the ground up.

Similarly, the building housing the Geology and Metrology Department to the north will be renovated.

The official expects the rehabilitation and reconstruction work, which began a month ago, to be completed within two years.
