KATHMANDU: Painting and maintenance work has begun in the Pashupati area in preparation for Maha Shivratri.
The Pashupati Area Development Fund will begin a special cleaning on Feb 13 in preparation for Maha Shivratri. Among the many festivals held in Pashupati throughout the year, Maha Shivratri is a significant one.
The main ceremony committee has also been formed to prepare for Maha Shivratri, with the coordination of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kiranti.
The main ceremony committee has formed nine sub-committees. Gourishankar Parajuli, the fund’s information officer, reported that the subcommittee met and accelerated preparations for Maha Shivaratri.
A reception and hospitality sub-committee has also been formed for the security arrangements and reception of Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati Swami, coordinated by Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, member secretary of the fund.
Similarly, a sub-committee for publicity and volunteer arrangements has been formed under the coordination of treasurer Narayan Prasad Subedi, and a sub-committee for accommodation, food, and physical arrangements has been formed under the coordination of council members Devi Prasad Baral and Utsav Badal.
A health services sub-committee, coordinated by council member Vishwakaran Jain, an environment, sanitation, and footwear management sub-committee, coordinated by council member Asha Pandey, and a sadhus and prayer arrangements sub-committee, coordinated by council member Arjun Prasad Bastola, have been formed.
On the occasion of Mahashivratri, the Board of Trustees has also decided to deploy only the Nepali Army on the grounds of the Pashupatinath temple on Feb 18. The fund will also organize Linga Purana on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
According to the fund, Shankaracharya Nishchalananda Saraswati of Govardhan Math in Jagannathpuri has been invited to this year’s Maha Shivratri.
The fund has also made special arrangements for Shankaracharya Nishchalananda Saraswati’s arrival. According to the fund, the properties in the Pashupati area will also be colored for Maha Shivratri.
