Bird flu detected in three places of Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: Bird flu has been detected in chickens in three different locations throughout the valley.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development reports that bird flu has infected chickens raised in Lalitpur’s Khumaltar, Kathmandu’s Nagarjun Municipality’s Ramkot, and Tarakeshwor Municipality.

With the outbreak of bird flu, the Department of Animal Services is working to destroy chickens, eggs, and grains. 4,591 chickens and 2,255 eggs have been destroyed in Ramkot.

Similarly, 940 chickens, 100 kg of feed and 1000 crates have been destroyed in Tarkeshwor.

In addition, 2,530 eggs, 217 chickens, and 250 kg of feed were destroyed in Khumaltar, Lalitpur.
