KATHMANDU: Urmila Aryal, the leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has filed her nomination for Vice Chair of the National Assembly.
She registered her candidacy as a joint candidate from the ruling coalition on the proposal of Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Vice Chair of the Maoist Centre.
According to Ramesh Lekhak, the party’s chief whip, a parliamentary party meeting held in Dhumbarahi on Sunday morning decided not to contest the election.
The election for the vice-chair of the upper house is set for Monday.
The position has been vacant since Shashi Kala Dahal of the Maoist Centre retired on March 5, 2018, after completing her four-year term.
