KATHMANDU: The police have prepared to present the arrested MP (Member of the House of Representatives) Arun Chaudhary from Kohalpur in Banke to the court.

Chaudhary, a Nagarik Unmukti Party parliamentarian who was convicted of arson of public property (tractor) 12 years ago, was arrested by police on Thursday. He was brought to Kathmandu by plane from Banke on Thursday and taken to Dhangadhi by plane from Kathmandu. Chaudhary remained in the custody of the District Police Office in Kailali on Thursday.

Chaudhary will appear in Kailali District Court today, according to the District Police Office. In 2067, Chaudhary, an elected MP from Kailali Constituency No. 2, was convicted.

Three people, including him, were sentenced to six months in prison by the Kailali District Court.

The Kailali District Court found three people guilty of torching Mahadev Bajgain’s tractor. In addition to MP Arun, the court found Parshuram Chaudhary, Arun, and Bir Bahadur Chaudhary guilty.

They splatter petrol on the tractor driver, Sajan Chaudhary, and set him on fire.

After the complaint was filed, all three of them fled without appearing in court to give a statement. According to the court, despite the fact that the deadline for appearing in court was issued in the names of the three defendants, they did not appear and admitted to the crime.

On August 3, 2066, they set fire to the tractor while returning to Lamki with stones from Goranga river in Chisapani, Kailali. Although the court sentenced them to 6 months imprisonment, the police did not arrest them and execute the verdict.
