KATHMANDU: The Sali Nadi Mela Madhava Narayan Mela, which lasts from Paush Shukla Purnima to Magh Shukla Purnima, is overflowing with devotees.
Swasthani stories are told and heard every day for a month from Paush Shukla Purnima to Magh Shukla Purnima.
It is a religious belief that observing a fast of Swasthani Parameshwari and listening to swasthani story will grant one’s wishes.
It begins with trimming the nails of hands and feet, taking a bath, and dressing cleanly. After bathing in Magha in the morning, Mahadev is worshiped daily at midday.
In the evening, it is customary to listen to the story of a healthy fast in the Skanda Purana’s Kedar section, a dialogue between the Magha Mahatmya and Kumar Agastya.
