Canadian citizen nabbed with 9 kg gold from TIA

KATHMANDU: A Canadian citizen was apprehended at Tribhuvan Airport with 9 kg of gold.
Mohammad Kamal Mohagob, a Canadian citizen of UAE origin, was detained by the airport customs office on Wednesday night after arriving by plane from Dubai.
According to Yamraj Pandey, spokesperson for the airport customs office, Mohammad was arrested with 9 kg 135 grams of illegal gold.
According to him, the arrested Canadian wore false buttons around his waists and carried more than a kilogram of gold in the shape of eight biscuits.
He stated that the item recovered from him in the blue cover was also discovered to be gold. He stated that additional investigation is being conducted.
Recently, it has been seen in the investigation that transit is being made to Nepal for the purpose of taking gold to India.
Last month, police arrested two Sudanese nationals along with 19 kg of gold. The gold discovered on Wednesday night is thought to be a continuation of the same.
He also stated that the investigation was launched with a focus on the involvement of Sudanese and Canadian citizens, as well as the nexus.
