‘NIC Asia Merchant Meet 2023’ concludes, significant participation of merchants

KATHMANDU: NIC Asia Bank Limited, which is promoting digital banking with the long-term goal of becoming the ‘Digital First Bank’, has completed the ‘NIC Asia Merchant Meet 2023’ on 2079 Magh 13 (27 Jan, 2023) with the motto of ‘Celebrating Digital Partnership’.
Mr. Jayandra Rawal, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, presided over the event, which attracted over 150 business partners from the bank’s Kathmandu Valley operations.
‘NIC Asia Merchant Meet 2023’ was organized to refresh the journey by appreciating and appreciating the enthusiastic participation, cooperation and contribution shown by the merchants in the long-term goal of becoming a ‘Digital First Bank’ by adopting the Digital Nepal Framework and the development of information technology in the global market.
Mr. Shyam Prasad Lamichhane, the bank’s Head of Life Style Banking Universe, spoke about the various digital services that the bank currently offers and those that it plans to launch in the future.
Furthermore, the bank intends to organize similar programs in different parts of the country in the future. So far, the bank has collaborated with over 2.1 lakh mobile banking customers, 1.4 lakh more debit and credit card holders, 2 lakh more QR merchants, 4 thousand more POS merchants, and 300 more e-commerce merchants, as well as organizations related to various payment systems.
NIC Asia Bank is one of the banks in the country with the most banking networks. Across the country, this bank has expanded 359 branch offices, 473 ATMs, 106 extended counters, and 81 branchless branch networks.
This bank has served approximately 25% of the economically active population aged 20 to 50 years out of the total population of the country.
It has paid more than Rs. 19.92 billion in direct and indirect revenue to the Government of Nepal since its inception and more than Rs. 3.41 billion in revenue to the Government of Nepal in the last fiscal year, demonstrating its commitment to responsible banking and supporting the country’s economy and high economic growth.
The bank has established itself as the bank with the most tax filings. Which is one of the companies with the sixth largest contribution when compared to all other companies in the country.
For financial inclusion, branches are being expanded and operated in remote districts where banks and financial institutions are scarce, such as Mugu, Kalikot, Bajhang, Rukum, Jumla, and Salyan, as well as in more than 34 local bodies where no banks or financial institutions exist.
The bank has established 72% of its branch offices in rural and small urban areas, which house more than 80% of the country’s total population.
