Stone excavated from Kali Gandaki sent to Ayodhya from Gorakhpur

KATHMANDU: The stone excavated from the Kali Gandaki in Nepal has been sent to Ayodhya from Gorakhpur to be used in the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Devshila was transferred to Ayodhya today from Gorakhpur following a special puja in the Gorakhpur temple complex.

Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi and others performed Devshila Puja in Gorakhpur today, according to religious rituals. Locals have welcomed the stone that was brought to Gorakhpur’s Gorakhanath temple on Tuesday night.

Leader Nidhi told the media after the puja in Gorakhpur this morning that the arrival of Kali Gandaki’s Devshila in Ayodhya had brought cultural relations between Nepal and India to a new level.

He said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and all other top leaders have a supportive role to make this work successful.

Locals and devotees were present at the Gorakhnath temple precinct in the shaligram farewell program. Along with Shila, Congress leader Nidhi, Mahatma Ramtapeshwardas of Janaki Temple, Rajendra Singh Pankaj, Secretary of Ram Mandir Construction Committee and officials of Hindu Volunteer Association, Vishwa Hindu Parishad Nepal participated.

The stone was sent to Ayodhya with a procession from the Janaki temple at Janakpurdham in Dhanusha on Sunday Jan 30. Shila will reach Ayodhya this evening.

There is a plan to hand over the stone from Nepali Congress leader Nidhi to Janaki temple’s Mahanth Das.
