POKHARA: Actor Paul Shah, who surrendered to police exactly one year ago on Feb 27, was detained and jailed, was released today.

The Pokhara High Court has ordered his release, ruling that the claim against him is insufficient.

Shah was charged with girl rape in Tanahun and Nawalpur police departments.

As the charges against him are false, the Tanahun court has already declared him innocent, whereas the Nawalpur court acquitted him in the rape case but sentenced him to two and a half years in prison in the child sexual abuse case.

Paul also appealed the Nawalpur court’s decision to the High Court.

A joint bench of Chief Justice Dilliraj Acharya and Justice Sridharakumari Pudasaini decided to release him after hearing his appeal.

Shah was released from Tanahun jail today as a result of the verdict. Shah has been acquitted in all cases, according to Shah’s senior lawyer Kamala Mohan Wagle.

He will be released today after completing the process and will be able to travel directly to Kathmandu.
