KATHMANDU: This year’s first winter rain has fallen in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Currently, it is raining in Sankhu, Jorpati, Gokarneshwor, and other areas of Kathmandu’s northeastern region.
Rain is expected to fall in Kathmandu until the evening, according to the Department of Water and Meteorology.
On Sunday, the weather in hilly areas across the country changed due to a western low wind, and scattered rain fell in Pokhara, Lamjung, Gorkha, and other areas.
As the pre-monsoon period is about to start, there is a possibility of storm along with the rain, senior meteorologist Shanti Kandel asked to be alert.
She said that the rain will stop in a few hours and the sky will open, but the weather is likely to change tomorrow afternoon.
It has also rained with hail in Pokhara. Light to moderate snowfall is falling in many areas of the high hills and Himalayas.
The rains have caused a drop in temperature across the country.
