Nepal’s First ‘Flyover’ construction begins at Gwarko (photos included)

LALITPUR: The construction of the country’s first ‘Flyover’ (Great Separated Intersection Road) has been started at Gwarko Chowk in Lalitpur since last Dec 9.
As per international standard of fly over, the (ground clearance) of this flyover being built in Nepal will be 6 meters. Its total length will be 445 meters and height will be 5.5 meters.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of this project, which has been awarded to M/S Ashish-Samanantar (JV) to be completed within two years after the commencement of construction, has been jointly prepared by Geocom/BDA/REZ.
The goal is to complete the construction of this flyover within 14 months.
The first flyover is about to be built at Gwarko Chowk, according to the government plan to construct flyovers in the three main areas of heavy traffic congestion in the extended road section from Koteshwor to Kalanki under the ring road expansion project.
The road department estimates that the construction of this flyover will take 24 months.
