Janakpur: Thousands of Dalit squatters demonstrate in front of CMs office (with photos)

JANAKPURDHAM: The ‘Jana Awaz Andolan (People’s Voice Movement)’ for Chure and Forest Protection has begun in Janakpurdham today. Hundreds of Dalit squatters took part in the campaign’s ‘Janaawaz Andolan,’ which was announced in advance.
Beginning at Murali Chowk, Chure and Forest Protection activists and Dalit squatters marched to the Chief Minister’s and Council of Ministers’ offices.
They declared that they would occupy the Chief Minister’s office. However, they were stopped about 200 meters away by a large number of security personnel.
The participants in the demonstration shouted slogans like “Give land to the landless, declare Dilip Mahato an environmental martyr, protect Chure forest, withdraw the false case against Chure activists.
They also demand that the 7-point agreement made by the state government should be implemented.
Patron of the campaign and social activist Saroj Raiya stated that the demand has not been met despite numerous protests, and they are forced for sit-in protest beginning today.
He said, “All the participants in the current demonstration will sit-on protest.” The sit-in will continue until the demand is met.
