Pokhara air crash: DNA tests of six begin
The tests began in the Central Police Forensic Science Lab.

KATHMANDU: DNA tests on six people killed in the Pokhara air crash on Magh 1 (Jan 15) have begun.
According to Dr. Gopal Kumar Chaudhary, Chief of the Forensic Medicine Department at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, the remains of six people killed in the crash necessitated DNA testing for identification due to extensive burns.
The tests began in the Central Police Forensic Science Lab.
The families’ samples and DNA extractions from the mortal remains’ bones and teeth were sent to the lab for testing. It takes at least two weeks to identify the mortal remains using DNA procedures.
The identities of 42 of the 48 bodies brought to Kathmandu from Pokhara were established through forensic tests and finger prints.
Pokhara police conducted 22 forensic tests.
