Hunt for witch doctor who spread earthquake rumors continues

SURKHET: On the night of Jan 29, local residents stayed outside their homes after false rumors of a ‘earthquake’ spread in Karnali State’s Himalayan districts.

The District Administration Office Humla is still looking for the person who spread the false rumor.

The rumor of an earthquake was spread by a Humla witch doctor, it was revealed.

According to Amrit Prasad Subedi, Assistant Chief District Officer of Humla, those who spread false rumors are being sought. He stated that the administration has delegated the search to the police, who are currently conducting the search.

Locals in Humla, Jumla, Mugu, and other districts stayed outside all night on Sunday after a witch doctor in Humla spread earthquake rumors.

The rumor of an earthquake in the Himalayan district of Karnali spread quickly late Sunday night, forcing locals to stay outside with fires in the cold weather.
