Case of 6 prisoners escaping from Area Police Office: 3 policemen suspended

KATHMANDU: Three police officers were suspended after six prisoners escaped by breaking through the wall of the Sakhuwa Mahendranagar area police office in Dhanusha’s detention cell.

Custody Officer Police SP Ashok Mandal, Senior Police Constable Saroj Regmi, and Police Constable Rohan Magar have all been suspended, according to the District Police Office Dhanusha.
Although the physical infrastructure of the detention cell is poor, the incident is said to have been caused by police negligence.
District police office and state police office have formed separate committees to investigate the incident. One of the prisoners who escaped after breaking down the wall has been recaptured.
According to District Police Office Dhanusha, Mahato was arrested while hiding in a relative’s house at Kushumbichauna, Mithila Municipality-8 in Dhanusha
The police said that they are looking for five other people who escaped from the police custody.
