20 trapped laborers rescued from Mahakali River
The police team deployed from the local police office, Gaddachauki, safely rescued the laborers trapped in Mahakali

KATHMANDU: The police rescued 20 trapped laborers in the Mahakali river. Workers stranded in the Mahakali River in Bhimadatta Municipality-11 Bhujela were rescued today.
Following the gates of the Sharda Barrage Vanbasa Bridge were opened without warning, the flow of the Mahakali River increased, and the laborers drowned along with the tractors transporting sand and gravel from the Mahakali River.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Shah, 20 laborers, including eight tractor drivers, were rescued safely after receiving word that they had drowned in the Mahakali River.
“The bridge gates were closed in coordination with the barrage bridge, and the tractor, driver, and workers were safely rescued,” he said, “The police team deployed from the local police office, Gaddachauki, safely rescued the laborers trapped in Mahakali.”
The flow of water in Mahakali increased dramatically when the Indian side opened the barrage gate on Monday without informing the Nepali administration.
