Traders protest against high bank interest rates (photos included)

KATHMANDU: The National Federation of Businessmen has staged a peaceful sit-in at Maitighar Mandla on Monday against the high interest rate of the bank.

The federation has organized a protest program in Kathmandu Valley, with the participation of various business associations/organizations.

They protested, claiming that the banks had subjected the traders to “torture” by raising the loan interest rate yet again.

According to industrialists, they are forced to protest as they are unable to pay even the interest on their loans due to the increased interest rate.

Although banks have reduced deposit interest rates, loan interest rates have been raised from 0.5 percent to 1 percent.
