Oli’s pressure to make Rabi Lamichhane home minister again
There is no reason why he (Rabi Lamichhane) should not be given the Ministry of Home Affairs, the error has been corrected.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has put pressure on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to make Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane as Home Minister along with Deputy Prime Minister.
Oli increased pressure on Prime Minister Dahal to return Lamichhane to the Ministry of Home Affairs as a non-MP as a deputy prime minister after Lamichhane took citizenship from the district administration office in Kathmandu on Sunday.
‘There is no reason why he (Rabi Lamichhane) should not be given the Ministry of Home Affairs, the error has been corrected. UML is of the opinion that he should be returned to the Council of Ministers as a non-MP until the by-elections are held,” said an official of UML.
He resigned from the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister on the same day after the court ruled that the stateless Lamichhane was ineligible to be an MP. After getting citizenship, Lamichhane has returned to RSVP president.
After returning to the presidency, Oli is in favor of re-participating in the government as deputy prime minister and home minister. But Prime Minister Dahal did not want to give the Ministry of Home Affairs to others.
