Rabi Lamichhane looses his posit as RSP’s chairperson

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane’s public and statutory positions will be terminated following the Supreme Court’s ruling that he is not a Nepali citizen. He has lost his positions as MP, Deputy Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Party Chairperson.

According to the Supreme Court, even though Rabi is a Nepali citizen, he must obtain a citizenship certificate in order to become a Nepali citizen.

Rabi renounced his Nepali citizenship when he obtained American citizenship (green card), according to the Supreme Court’s summary judgment.

However, after he gave up his green card, he applied for Nepali citizenship in 2050 BS without filing any paperwork.
