KATHMANDU: Magh Shukla Panchami is celebrated today. On this day, the presiding goddess of learning, Goddess Saraswati, is worshiped and celebrated in schools across the country.
Small children who are newly enrolled in schools are now given initial letters as well. Today, students from the school flock to their respected school and perform Saraswati Puja.
It is customary for parents to teach their children who have not yet been sent to school to write their first words with their fingers. There is a religious notion that if knowledge is imparted to Shree Panchami, it will be beneficial.
Being the goddess of knowledge and creation, especially writers, artists, journalists, teachers and students worship their objects of art, such as pens, copies, kuchi and musical instruments, as Saraswati, while Tantrikss worship Taradevi for Tantra Siddhi.
This day is also known as ‘Vasant Panchami,’ since it is believed that as the sun moves north, the day will become longer and the spring season will begin.
Wits Academy in Bouddha Bhuwal Danda began Akshararambha on the day of Saraswati Puja. On this day, the science and technology materials prepared by the school’s students were also displayed.
