Today, devotees flock to Saraswati temples all over the country to worship.

KATHMANDU: Every year on Magha Shukla Panchami, Shri Panchami is observed throughout the country by worshiping Goddess Saraswati, the presiding goddess of learning.
This day is also known as Vasant Panchami. Worshiping Saraswati, according to religious belief, will increase your knowledge and wisdom. Today, devotees flock to Saraswati temples all over the country to worship.
It is customary to begin teaching the alphabet to young children who have not yet been enrolled in school. People nowadays believe that learning to read and write will help them learn better.
Hindus call Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, by names like Bharati, Sharada, Hansavahini, Jagannatha, Vagishwari, Kaumari, Varadaini, Buddhidhatri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta and Bhuvaneshvari.
As Saraswati is the goddess of learning and creation, writers, artists, journalists, teachers, and students worship their art-tools as Saraswati, while Tantrik Tantra is worshiped as Taradevi for Siddhi.
These days are also known as ‘Vasant Panchami,’ because it is believed that the sun will move north and the spring season will begin.
Devotees, particularly students, flock to the temples of Swayambhu, Maitidevi, and Neela Saraswati in Gairidhara, Lele in Lalitpur, and other districts of Saraswati in the valley from early morning.
