HM Rabi to Acharya’s family: ‘Government is with you’

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane met with the family of self-immolator Prem Prasad Acharya. Rabi Lamichhane, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, met with the family of Prem Prasad Acharya ‘Santosh’ of Ilam, who committed self-immolation.
Lamichhane consoled Acharya’s family during the meeting and stated that he is serious about this matter.
According to Nawaraj Pandey, the press coordinator for Home Minister Lamichhane, he is ready to address the issues raised by Acharya, stating that the government is on Acharya’s side in times of distress. ‘In times of sorrow, we are with you,’ Lamichhane said, quoting Acharya. We’ll see what the government can come up with.’ That was stated by the Minister of Home Affairs.
Acharya committed self-immolation in New Baneshwor on Tuesday. Acharya died this morning during treatment at Burn Hospital Kirtipur.
Earlier in the morning, Rabi wrote status on the social network Facebook that his decision to self-immolate was the result of frustration and pain he had been experiencing since yesterday.
