20 million corruption for buying ginger seeds, case filed by authority against former mayor of Galyang

POKHARA: A case against the former mayor of Syangja’s Galyang Municipality has been filed in a special court on charges of corruption while purchasing ginger seeds. Based on evidence gathered during a lengthy investigation, the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission filed a case against him.
After a complaint was filed against former mayor Bhuparaj Adhikari and the then-employee, an investigation was launched. He is accused of selling farmers low-quality seeds at exorbitant prices.
A corruption case has been filed against the then-chief administrative officer, Ishwar Prasad Pandey, crop development officer Arvindamani Tripathi, accountant Rajendra Regmi, buyer Santosh Koirala, and seed supplier company representatives.
The payment was made, according to the Authority, by purchasing low-quality ginger seeds without testing the documents mentioned in the specification.
The municipality paid 2.14 million 50 thousand rupees to Spook Traders Pvt. Ltd. in Kathmandu Tinkune for ginger seeds. According to the authority, out of the amount paid to Spook, the then-city chief Bhuparaj Adhikari lost 13 lakh rupees by artificially increasing the rate. As a result, only the ex-mayor official has been named as a defendant in the Rs 13 lakh corruption case. Mayor Officer, Chief Administrative Officer Pandey, Crop Development Officer Tripathi, and others have a total of 1 crore 97 lakh 70 thousand 499 rupees in corruption.
Shiv Prasad Neupane, the representative of the seed supplier, has been sued for 20 million 10 lakh 70 thousand 499 rupees for causing damage to the municipality. Other incidents have also come to light as a result of the investigation launched against the employees, including the former mayor. Locals have been accused of misbehaving during the monkey removal campaign and milk subsidy.
