Demonstration led by Suman Sayami against Balen at Maitighar

KATHMANDU: The Valley Wide Road Expansion Victims’ Struggle Committee will hold a demonstration in Kathmandu against Mayor Balen Shah.

On Jan 29, there will be a demonstration and sit-in in Maitighar Mandala against Mayor Balen.

Suman Sayami is the movement’s coordinator. Suman Saimi ran against Balen for mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. However, after Balen was elected, he stated that he would back him up.

Sayami claims that the reason for the protest against Balen is that the people of Kathmandu have recently begun to live in fear.

Sayami has also claimed that Balen is turning into a vigilante and has recently encroached on tribal lands by instilling fear of dozers.
