Protesters demanding justice for Nirmala Kurmi arrested (photos included)

KATHMANDU: Protesters on a sit-in demanding justice for Nirmala Kurmi of Banke were arrested. For violating the prohibited area, the police arrested four people, including campaigner Rubi Khan.

The third phase of protest in Maitighar Mandla began on Dec 29 under the leadership of Women’s Rights Forum Banke, demanding justice for Kurmi.

When a large civil movement gathered at Maitighar and marched to the Singha Durbar in solidarity with the same movement, the police arrested them in front of the District Court of Kathmandu.

Kurmi was kidnapped, held hostage, and then murdered. Rights activists, on the other hand, are demanding justice, claiming that no action has been taken against the accused.
