DHARAN: Harka Sampang, mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, has begun to demolish illegally constructed physical structures with dozers.
Mayor Sampang has begun using dozers to demolish structures, including houses built on public land.
When the Metropolitan Corporation began to use dozers, the locals began to object.
The metropolitan started the demolition of structures built by encroaching on public land and river in Deurali, located in Dharan Metropolitan Municipality Ward No. 5 from Sunday.
Following the metropolitan dozer was encroaching on the river and demolishing the house built by the local Muna Chaudhary Limbu, some parts of the dozer glasses broke after the locals resisted.
The metropolitan had written to remove the structures built in that area after deciding to build a multi-caste stadium at the confluence of the Kharkhola and Andheri rivers in Dharan 5. However, as the residents refused to have the structure removed, the city claims that the dozer was used.
Dharan sub-metropolitan city’s city police chief Bishnu Koirala said that the construction of a multi-caste stadium in Dharan sub-metropolitan city had to be demolished as unauthorized residents started living in the place and despite repeated requests they were not allowed to move. It had to be demolished.
Previously, a team of city police had arrived at the site with a dozer to demolish the under-construction house, but due to local opposition, they returned without demolishing the house.
Locals have resisted by demanding that the river be demarcated as they have been using the land for years.
The landlord filed a case in district court seeking an interim order, but the court ruled that no such order should be issued.
