KATHMANDU: The ‘Air Crash Investigation Commission,’ formed to investigate the Yeti Airlines plane crash that occurred on Sunday morning in Pokhara, has begun its work.

The Air Crash Investigation Commission has begun its work, according to Jagannath Niraula, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

According to him, the plane’s ‘black box’ was found this morning. The commission has received the black box.

Black box is thought to be crucial in determining the cause of plane crashes. ‘Flight Radar Record’ and ‘Cockpit Voice Record’ are stored in the black box.

The government had formed a five-member commission of inquiry to find out the truth about the accident of the Yeti Airlines plane that crashed on Sunday. Former secretary Nagendra Ghimire is the coordinator of the commission.

Besides, the members include aviation expert Deepak Prakash Bastola, retired captain, Sunil Thapa, retired captain and air maintenance engineer Ekraj Jung Thapa. Budhisagar Lamichhane, joint secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, is the member secretary of the commission.

The commission was formed to determine the cause of the crash and to issue a report with recommendations to prevent similar crashes from occurring in the future. The commission has 45 days to complete its work.

The commission has been tasked with determining the cause of the crash and submitting a report with recommendations for future actions to prevent similar accidents from occurring.

The Air Crash Investigation Commission was established by the Non-Military Air Flight Accident Investigation Regulations, 2071.
