Karnali: Speaker Gurung took oath & assumed office

SURKHET: Speaker of the Karnali State Assembly, Nanda Gurung, has taken the oath of office and secrecy.

Tilak Pariyar, the state chief, took the oath of office and secrecy on Sunday.

Gurung, who was elected from the Karnali State Assembly, took the oath as per Rule 8 of the State Assembly Rules 2079. After taking the oath, Speaker Gurung also took office today.

Thirteen MPs from CPN-Maoist Centre, 10 MPs from UML and 1 MP from RPP voted for Speaker Gurung, who won by getting 24 votes from the 40-member Karnali State Assembly.
