Bangladesh PM named as IDF Global Ambassador for Diabetes

DHAKA: Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday received the medal and citation of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Global Ambassador for Diabetes.

Foreign Minister Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, together with other senior officials, handed over the medal and the citation to Hasina, according to the national news agency BSS.

Hasina was offered the “Honorary Title of the Global Ambassador for Diabetes” in recognition of her role in ensuring affordable access to health care for patients with diabetes and other non-communicable diseases at the opening ceremony of the IDF world diabetes congress held in Lisbon, Portugal, on Dec. 5, 2022.
