State 1: Maoist’s Baburam Gautam elected as speaker
Gautam was elected Speaker unopposed after only one candidate was proposed.
BIRATNAGAR: Baburam Gautam has been elected as the Speaker of State 1 by the State Assembly.
Four MPs supported Rewatiraman Bhandari, chief whip of the CPN-UML parliamentary party, in his proposal to elect Baburam Gautam as Speaker in accordance with rule 7 sub-rule 3 of the State Assembly rules 2074.
UML, JSP, and Unified Socialists all back CPN-Maoist Center MP Gautam.
Gautam was elected Speaker unopposed after only one candidate was proposed.
