TU could not provide pension due to lack of money
Registrar Dahal said that the university is spending 10 billion on salary and allowances and 4 billion on pension.

KATHMANDU: The country’s first university has faced financial difficulties as a result of the government’s insufficient budget.
Tribhuvan University has been unable to send pensions to retired professors and staff since Shrawan (July/Aug) due to a lack of sufficient funds.
University Registrar Prof. Dr. Peshal Dahal stated at the start of the 4th National Conference of the University Alumni Association that the pension could not be paid.
The university assembly passed a budget of 28 billion in the previous fiscal year, while the government provided a budget of 9 billion.
Registrar Dahal said that the university is spending 10 billion on salary and allowances and 4 billion on pension.
Prof. Dr. Dharmakant Baskota, Vice-Chancellor of the University, stated that while the university has 16,065 teachers and staff positions, the government only sends salary and allowances to 13,000 people.
