KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has expressed his commitment to providing free electricity up to 50 units to household consumers (domestic consumption).

He made this commitment during his speech to the House of Representatives on Tuesday when he asked for a vote of confidence.

In his speech, he stated that 50 units of electricity per month will be provided free of charge for domestic consumption in the summer and 30 units of electricity per month in the winter.

He also stated that the government’s goal for the next five years is to reach 6,500 megawatts of electricity generation capacity and 700-kilowatt hours of electricity consumption per capita.

Similarly, he promised that by adjusting electricity tariffs, he would be able to provide electricity to 100% of citizens within a year.
