The meeting of the top leaders of the power partner parties held in Baluwatar on Sunday evening has decided to call for a vote of confidence with other parties in the parliament.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, RSP Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairperson Rajendra Lingden, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairperson Upendra Yadav, and Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut. They have also decided to finalize and make public the minimum common program of the power partner parties for running the government.
Sources s said, the Nepali Congress and the CPN Unified Socialist Party, which are not part of the ruling coalition, may also give Prime Minister Dahal a vote of confidence. Congress and the CPN-S have yet to make a decision on this. According to sources, these two parties can sit on the opposition bench if they give Prime Minister Dahal a vote of confidence in exchange for a president and a speaker.
However, if the Maoist center decides to give the President and Speaker UML, Congress and the CPN-S will not give Prime Minister Dahal a vote of confidence.
According to the leaders of the ruling party, the issue of national consensus government is being raised as part of a game to win the hands of the President and the Speaker.
