POKHARA: Pokhara’s paragliding flight, which was halted after the international airport opened, will resume on Jan 15.

The paragliding flight was transferred from Sarangkot, where it was previously flown, to Mandredhunga, 5 kilometers away, from the airport.

However, it has long been tested that paragliding should be removed if the flight is obstructed from there. After the paragliding flight from that location during the test had no effect on the airport or the aircraft, plans were made for commercial flights to begin on Jan 15.

Sarangkot, Toripani, and Tamagi have been closed as they are within 10 nautical miles of the international airport, which has more traffic. The flight from Mandredhunga will land in Chankhapur at Pame. Pokhara has had paragliding flights since 1996.

Currently, the Nepal Air Sports Association (NAA) has 60 paragliding companies and over 350 pilots flying.

Paragliding is also a popular attraction for visitors to Pokhara.

However, as of the relocation, businessmen are concerned that their operations will suffer.
