BIRATNAGAR: Hikmat Karki has been appointed as the Chief Minister of State 1.
Parshuram Khapung, the state chief, appointed him as chief minister.
He presented his claim to the Chief Minister after gaining the support of 60 of the State Assembly’s 93 members.
He has the support of 40 CPN-UML MPs, 13 CPN-Maoist Center MPs, 6 RP MPs, and 1 JSP MP in the State Assembly.
A government must be formed in this state with 47 members.
Karki, however, has been elected Chief Minister with the support of roughly two-thirds of the members.
After none of the parties achieved a majority in the State Assembly, state chief Parshuram Khapung set a deadline of 5 p.m. today for forming a government with the support of two or more parties.
It is said that the chief minister’s oath will be taken only tomorrow (Monday).
