KATHMANDU: The UML has assumed the position of Chief Minister of State 1.

The Maoists will be given half of the term following UML’s leadership, according to the leaders.

The leaders stated that the Saturday evening discussion between the partner parties resulted in an agreement on the issue of country one.

According to the agreement, Hikmat Kumar Karki, the leader of the UML State 1 parliamentary party, submitted a claim for appointment as Chief Minister of State. 1. According to Article 168 of the Constitution, Karki’s appointment as Chief Minister was supported by 60 MPs from the CPN-UML, Maoist Center, RPP, and JSP.

A majority in the 93-member state assembly requires 47 votes. The ruling party has 60 MPs, with 40 from the CPN-UML, 13 from the CPN-Maoist Center, 6 from the RPP, and 1 from the JSP.

The Nepali Congress has 29 members in Parliament. There are four CPN Unified Socialists seats that have not yet been filled.

Leaders of the Maoist Center Parliamentary Party, Indra Bahadur Angbo, and the RPP Parliamentary Party, Bhakti Prasad Sitaula, backed Karki’s election as Chief Minister.

The UML will lead the first term, and the Maoists will lead the second. According to this, UML’s Hikmat Karki will become Chief Minister in the first term, while the Maoist Parliamentary Party’s Indra Bahadur Angbo has stated that he will become Chief Minister in the second term.

‘It was agreed that the Chief Minister of this province will rotate. It was agreed that UML will take the first term and we will take the second term. If there is no minister, I will work for the party for the remaining 2 years.’
