Chinese new envoy Chen arrives
The ambassador from the northern neighbor was greeted at Tribhuvan International Airport by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Republic of China Embassy in Kathmandu.
KATHMANDU: Chen Song, China’s newly appointed ambassador to Nepal, arrived in Kathmandu today.
The ambassador from the northern neighbor was greeted at Tribhuvan International Airport by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People’s Republic of China Embassy in Kathmandu.
On the occasion, the ambassador stated that the Himalayas and rivers connect Nepal and China and that both neighbors have a long history of friendship.
According to him, China-Nepal relations have been built on mutual respect, trust, support, and cooperation since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1955.
Furthermore, recalling Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Nepal in 2019, he described it as historic.
During the visit, the leaders of both neighbors agreed to form a strategic partnership for long-term friendship, mutual cooperation, and development and prosperity, he added.
Chen is the 22nd Chinese ambassador to the country. He takes over for Hou Yanqi.
