Finally: Prachanda & Baburam preparing to join same political party
The meeting agreed that the two parties' unity should be completed as soon as possible and that a loose forum for the cooperation of socialist-leaning parties would be formed.
KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachand’ and Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) Chairperson Dr. Baburam Bhattarai have planned a party unity meeting. Prachanda and Baburam are getting ready to join the same political party for the first time in 7 years.
On Saturday, there was a meeting between the Chairperson of the Maoist Center, Prachanda, who is also the Prime Minister, and the Chairperson of NSP, Baburam, in Baluwatar.
The meeting agreed that the two parties’ unity should be completed as soon as possible and that a loose forum for the cooperation of socialist-leaning parties would be formed.

The five-member negotiating team includes Secretary General Dev Gurung and Deputy Secretaries Girirajmani Pokharel, Janardan Sharma and Shakti Basnet. NESP has called a meeting of the political committee today. This meeting will form a team for talks on party unity. NSP co-chairperson Ganganarayan Shrestha said, ‘The negotiation team of both parties will discuss and decide on all issues of party unity.’
After the then Constituent Assembly promulgated the constitution, Bhattarai announced his abandonment of Maoism on 2072 Ashoj 9 (26 Sept 2015).
Later, sometime, he formed the New Shakti Party. Later he merged this party with JSP. After various disagreements with Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, he formed the NSP.
This party of Bhattarai contested the election on the election symbol of the CPN-Maoist Party in the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections held on Nov 20.
According to the agreement reached at that time, now these two parties are about to unite. For this, the two leaders had a meeting on Saturday.
