KATHMANDU: Senior advocate Hari Shankar Niraula has won the election for the 34th new working committee of the Supreme Bar Association from the broad democratic group.

He won with 289 votes, while his opponent, Pragatisheel senior advocate Tulsi Bhatta, received 275 votes.

Earlier, the President of the Supreme Bar was Senior Advocate Poornaman Shakya.

Jagdish Prasad Pandey of the Democratic Party won as Vice Chair, Shyam Kumar Khatri of the Progressive Party as Secretary, Sujan Lopchan from the Democratic Party as Joint Secretary and Kapil Chandra Pokharel from the Progressive Party as Treasurer. In one female member, Pragatisheel’s Pragatishan Kandel has won.

Among the members, democratic Uttamraj Pathak, Bhimprasad Dhakal, Rupnarayan Shrestha, Reshamraj Regmi, Ram Bahadur Raut, and Sumankumar KC have won, while Prabhuji Panta, Anupraj Upreti and Devi Regmi Pokharel have won from the progressive party.
