Rabi to continue as HM, SC refuses to issue interim order
He will continue to serve as MP and Home Minister despite the Supreme Court's refusal to issue an interim order in his citizenship case.

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister will remain in office.
He will continue to serve as MP and Home Minister despite the Supreme Court’s refusal to issue an interim order in his citizenship case.
The Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench, comprising Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Anil Kumar Sinha and Prakashman Singh Raut along with Acting Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki, refused to issue an interim order on the writ petition regarding Lamichhane’s citizenship.
Lamichhane’s citizenship case will now be heard by the Supreme Court, but his parliamentary seat will remain unchanged.
Lamichhane, who had obtained American citizenship but renounced it and did not obtain Nepali citizenship, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court claiming that he is not a Nepali citizen.
