Phidim Fire: Two killed, two injured

KATHMANDU: Two people were killed in a fire in Panchthar’s Phidim Municipality-8. Local Megh Bahadur Gurung’s daughter and daughter-in-law died when the house caught fire.

District Police Office Panchthar has informed that Gurung’s daughter-in-law, 23-year-old Asan Singh Thebe, and 22-year-old daughter, Mamata Gurung, are among the dead.

A 55-year-old Megh Bahadur Gurung and his son Bijendra Gurung were injured in the fire. The condition of the injured is normal, police said. They have been brought to Panchthar Hospital for treatment.

According to Chief (DSP) Hari Khatiwada of District Police Office Panchthar, two people died, two were injured, and three escaped from the house.

A team led by DSP Khatiwada arrived at the scene from the District Police Office Panchthar and extinguished the fire.

The police have estimated that the fire caused a loss of Rs 50 lakh. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
