Newly elected lawmakers take their oaths of office & secrecy
Rai was elected as a member of the Nepali Congress and Ale as CPN (Unified Socialist Party).
KATHMANDU: Newly elected lawmakers Prem Ale and Maya Rai took an oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday.
Ale and Rai, members of the House of Representatives, took the oath of office on Tuesday.
The oath was administered by senior member Pashupati Shamsher JB Rana.

Rai was elected as a member of the Nepali Congress and Ale as CPN (Unified Socialist Party).
Previously, when the MPs took their oaths on Dec 22, they were not present.
As per Article 88 of the constitution, every member of the parliament must take an oath as prescribed by law before attending the first meeting of the parliament and its committees.
Similarly, Section 75 of the 2017 House of Representatives Election Act requires newly elected legislators to take an oath of office and secrecy.
