KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has decided to hold a minute’s silence in football competitions across the country for a week to commemorate the death of Brazilian football legend Pele.
ANFA has issued a letter instructing district football associations, clubs, and tournament organizers to observe a minute’s silence before each match for the next week.
In accordance with FIFA’s instructions, ANFA has sent a letter to the district associations, clubs, and organizers.
Pele passed away on Friday at the age of 82.
Pele, the only player to win the World Cup three times, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Pele is Brazil’s leading scorer. He scored 77 goals in 92 games.
Pele is one of only two players to have scored in four World Cups. Pele won the World Cup three times for Brazil: in 1958, 1962, and 1970.
Pele scored 1,028 goals in 1,363 games during his 21-year football career. Pele was named FIFA Player of the Century in 2000.
