KATHMANDU: Women’s Rights Forum Banke has announced the third phase of the movement in Maitighar Mandla on Thursday for the justice of Banke’s Nirmala Kurmi.

Protestors from Kalanki gathered at Maitighar Mandla at 1 p.m. and held a press conference at 4 p.m., announcing the indefinite sit-in, said the chairperson of the platform, Rubi Khan.

According to Khan, the platform and the victim’s family resumed their protest after the Banke police conducted a cursory investigation into Nirmala Kurmi’s kidnapping, disappearance, body hostage, and killing cases.

After a 43-day sit-in and protest, the government formed a committee to investigate the case through discussion last year.

Following the arrest of the accused in the case and the submission of a report to the government for investigation, the police are now detaining six people and investigating, with one elderly person detained.

But instead of arresting Badshah Kurmi, who is said to be the main accused in the case, the platform has been accusing the police of protecting him.

In the recently concluded elections, Badshah Kurmi was elected as a Member of Parliament from Banke Constituency No. 3 (A) on behalf of the Nepali Congress.
